Nov. 2017 • Couples. After arriving in town the first thing we did was to visit the Broken Hill Miner's Memorial and the Line of Lode Lookout. It is a uniquely shaped memorial honouring the great number of miners who lost their lives in this famous mining town. The views over Broken Hill are amazing and there are lots of old pieces of mining.

A Stark Reminder. May 2016 • Couples. Sometimes known as "The Line of Lode" Miners Memorial, this rather grim, purposely rusty structure, sits on the top of the mullock heap which divides Broken Hill from South Broken Hill. The very starkness of it is a solemn reminder of the over eight hundred miners who have lost their lives whilst involved.

Sadly the memorial museum was closed for renovations so did t get to learn much more. Great views overlooking the township from various locations.

A fitting tribute to the 800 miners who died in the mines. This memorial on top of the massive slag and waste heap produced by the mining is a reminder of the human cost of obtaining the riches from the earth. The building itself is rather stark and tent-like but reading the glass plaques inscribed with the names and ages of the miners, and how.
